Softly As I Leave You
September 12, 2005Softly As I Leave You by Matt Monroe
is one of the songs I heard in my youth that I could never get out of
my head. I’ve heard two versions of the story and both are sad
and poignant. So much so that everytime I hear or even think of
the song it makes me cry.
One story goes like this: The lyricist of the song was caught in the rain and seeked shelter in a
nearby hospital. When he entered the hospital, he wandered near
the nursery. Staring through the window at the babies was this
very gaunt man who was crying. He told the lyricist that he was
dying of (terminal) cancer and that he will not get to see his child
grow up. The lyricist was so touched by this story that it
inspired him to write “Softly As I Leave You”.
Another story goes like this, it was related by Elvis Presley in one of his concerts. Here is a direct quote from coverage of his concert:
Rock On!
September 11, 2005I have been watching RockstarInxs
from Day 1 and I am not ashamed to admit that I am ADDICTED!
Partly because I really love music, but another (secret) part is that
within me there is a little rocker waiting to get out. hehehe.
They started with 15 contestants — now there are 4:
- JD Fortune
- Marty Casey
- Mig Ayesa
- Suzie McNeil
I give up!
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again … I’m not really a
blogger. I never kept a decent diary. I like to keep my
thoughts where they belong … in my noggin’. The few times I
have written or posted anything it is often when something moves me in
either direction — meaning good or bad.
So, be prepared to read about anything I think is memorable and desperately need to put down “on paper” so to speak.
But right now, I will immediately admit to you, that I update my other
site more ’cause that site allows me
to put non-personal stuff, which is what I like about it, hehehe.
I hope I learn to really use this blogsite. I look forward to beta-testing it for my sistah! =o)
